Synopsis

Socialite Edith Pope is courted by both Billy West and Donald Rogers, but when West goes to Colorado to seek his fortune, Rogers wins Edith's hand. West becomes a mining millionaire while Rogers, an unpretentious contracter, is burdened by business debts and the ill health of his son Bobbie. Edith, unaccustomed to daily drudgery and impressed by wealth, succumbs to West's advances when he returns. The two plan to elope to Europe, but West first must return to Colorado to liquidate his holdings. While there, he dies of appendicitis, leaving his fortune to Edith. Rogers permits his wife to accept the money, unaware of her affair with West, but when a friend ignorantly informs him that West had left his estate to a married woman with whom he planned to elope, Rogers leaves Edith. In the end, a remorseful Edith returns the inheritance, proclaims her love for her husband, and the two are reconciled.
