Synopsis

Lumber man James Wadsworth falls in love with society's Anna Dalton and so follows her everywhere, even when she boards a steamer for South America. An aggressive suitor, James throws Anna overboard, jumps in after her and takes her to a deserted island, where Anna gradually falls in love with him. A rescue mission led by Anna's fiancé, Richard Towne, locates the island and removes Anna but leaves James, with Richard telling Anna that he has died in a fall from a cliff. James manages to leave the island, however, and tracks down Richard and Anna, who have gotten married. Horrified at the sight of James, who is living proof of his own heartlessness on the island and of his having lied to Anna, Richard commits suicide, thereby allowing Anna to return to the man she has never stopped loving.
