Synopsis

Impresario Thomas Sullivan brings a new musical show written by native talent Gene Harris to a small country town. After Sullivan gives an audition to choir singer Millicent Lloyd who sings a song written by her boyfriend, local bookkeeper Brian McBride, Millicent goes to New York with Sullivan, and becomes a famous singer. Sullivan is unable to find a new vehicle for her because Harris is in a despondent state. Brian comes to New York with a new opera and wants to become a success before seeing Millicent. Harris manages to steal Brian's opera and passes it off as his own, staging it with Millicent in the leading role. After a series of cross accusations and hard times for Brian, he is finally recognized as the author of the successful opera, and reunited with Millicent.
