Synopsis
Customs official Dan Taylor forces Ethel Cartwright to spy for him, in exchange for not pressing charges, when he finds out that her sister has stolen some jewels. Ethel's first task is to find out everything she can about Steven Denby, a smuggler whom Dan has trailed for a long time. Romance complicates Ethel's mission, however, when she falls in love with Steven soon after meeting him. Dan finally gets Steven, but when Steven offers him a huge bribe, Dan gladly accepts. As soon as Dan puts his hands on the money, however, Steven reveals himself to be a United States Secret Service agent, and arrests Dan, who had long been using his customs job as a front for illegal activity. Afterward, Ethel, relieved now that she loves a hero instead of a smuggler, makes plans with Steven for their life together.
