Synopsis
Soon after Ned Singleton, an Easterner, arrives in the small Western town of Siskiyou, he becomes partners with Joe Saunders in a mining venture. Ned successfully woos Joe's longtime sweetheart, Mary Brandon, but when he tries to break his promise to marry her, Joe makes him keep his word and then ends their partnership. Josiah Scraggs, who also loves Mary, then kills Ned, but the townspeople accuse Joe of the murder. During the trial, Joe marries Ned's widow, after which the jury convicts him. He is saved, however, when Wing Lee, a servant, produces the evidence that reveals Josiah's guilt.
