Synopsis

A modern duke decides to live as his ancestors did, so he makes his castle and his servants conform to medieval standards. Ignoring modern rules of social conduct, he sends a message to the Earl in which he insists on marrying the Earl's ward. Following the Duke's orders, the ward rides to his castle, stopping on the way only to have a gypsy blacksmith re-shoe her horse. Upon her arrival, she is amused at how the Duke has turned back the clock, but disgusted by his oppressively medieval attitude toward women. As a result, after a brief stay in the fourteenth century, she elopes with the gypsy blacksmith.
