Synopsis

Betty, a poor but pretty young woman, will be named the heir to her uncle's fortune if she can prove her worth by raising $500 to pay the mortgage on her home. Her creditors are on the verge of repossessing the house when she meets and falls in love with Willie, a prizefighter. Determined to help the woman he loves, Willie answers an ad placed by champion Dan Dolan, who promises $500 to any fighter who can endure three rounds against him. Willie not only survives the three rounds but knocks Dan Dolan senseless, thereby becoming the new American lightweight champion. Impressed, Betty's uncle consents to their marriage on condition that Willie become the world champion. The young pugilist then travels to England, where he wins the coveted title from a fighter who proves to be Betty's long-lost brother.
