Synopsis
A poor girl who does not know her parentage dances in a rough music hall where her sweetheart Bob works as a waiter. Meanwhile, a stern judge invites his more lenient colleague to a trial in which he levies the harshest sentence possible. Afterwards, in a park, they encounter the girl and Bob. The lenient judge remembers that he recently gave Bob a suspended sentence for street fighting. At the dive, a Bowery "sport" attacks the girl in her room. Bob enters and witnesses the accidental shooting of the attacker. After the girl is stopped by a police bullet in her leg, the stern judge presides over her trial. When the jury finds her guilty, the girl's grandfather, whom her attorney located, confronts the judge, who faints as the attorney relates that years earlier, the judge deserted the girl's mother to pursue his career. The next day, the lenient judge sets the girl free. She and Bob then visit the convalescent judge, who now expresses the desire to devote his life to his daughter.
