Synopsis
Eminent English actor and friend of the Prince of Wales, James Clarence, meets and is mutually attracted to Lady Felson, but her husband is very jealous. Petulant Lord Bassett proposes marriage to his ward Celia Pryse to which she reluctantly agrees. She secretly writes Clarence, however, wanting to become an actress. He discourages her, but when Celia disappears on her wedding day, Bassett accuses Clarence of kidnapping her. Meanwhile, Lady Felson sneaks into Clarence's dressing room before a performance and drops her fan which is later found by her husband. Celia accepts a position as an actress in America and Clarence decides that he also should leave to avoid any notoriety. As he sails for America, Clarence introduces his new leading lady, Celia.
