Synopsis

Courted by both Joe Brill and Jim Kent, flirtatious Violet Dare marries Joe, then gives birth to twin daughters, Lucy and Pearl. Her domestic happiness is interrupted, however, when Joe discovers Violet carousing with other men. Joe drives his wife from their home, but later she returns and abducts Pearl, leaving Lucy with Joe. Neither girl knows of the other's existence when they reach adulthood. Pearl is now a coquette like her mother, who breaks her engagement to lawyer Curtis Holmes to elope with a drug-using racetrack tout. When they are involved in an automobile accident, they seek shelter at a hotel. Curtis comes to the hotel looking for Pearl and meets Lucy who has cared for Joe, who is now in a sanitarium. Curtis and Lucy fall in love and are brought additional happiness by Joe's recovery. In the end, Joe discovers Pearl when he rescues her in a fire caused by her careless smoking, and she decides to devote her life to him so that Lucy and Curtis may marry.
