Synopsis

When Lola Barnhelun, a young woman who is loved and admired by everyone, is killed in an automobile accident, her father, a doctor, uses a machine that he has invented to restore her life. Although her body still retains Lola's form, her soul has left her, thus changing her nature. Lola becomes an amoral adventuress, breaks with John Dorris, her loving fiancé, and has affairs with many men. Soon her heart weakens under the strain and she is told by a physician that a severe shock could kill her. She returns to her father's home and begs him to restore her to life if she should die again, but after she has a fatal heart attack during an argument with him, Dr. Barnhelun destroys the machine and grieves over her lifeless body.
