Elk Photoplays announced the film's cast in May 1920, and the Community Motion Picture Bureau viewed the film in August 1920, but it is not known if it was released during that year. Victor Kremer placed a film titled Why Tell on its list of releases in January 1921; it is probable that the two films are the same and that the name Henry Miller appearing on the Moving Picture World chart should actually be Walter Miller. It is unclear whether Elk Photoplays was the film's producer, distributor, or both. Elk announced the film as a five-reeler, but Kremer listed it as a six-reeler.
