Synopsis

The war against good and evil extends from the garden of Eden through the time of Christ, to modern times when the wealthy and unscrupulous George Harmon, believing that every woman has her price, wagers that he can buy the first woman he meets, body and soul. His victim is Mrs. Gregory, whose downfall Harmon immediately begins to plot. He is aided by fate when her husband, who has lost all his money, falls down the stairs and fractures his skull. An operation is needed and Mrs. Gregory knows no one who will lend her the money. Goaded by Agnes Sinn, she seeks the money from Harmon, who refuses to loan it to her but offers instead to buy her virtue. Shocked, Mrs. Gregory faints and has a dream in which she sees herself agreeing to Harmon's terms and later views a film called "The Seventh Sin." She awakens to refuse Harmon's offer and her virtue is rewarded when she discovers that Henry Goode, in her absence, has furnished the funds for her husband's operation.
