Synopsis

Corporal Jack, known as Trooper 44 of the Pennsylvania Mounted State Police, is in love with Ruth Moreland, the daughter of a member of the Sandford outlaw gang. Following the robbery of the Coal Corp. Bank, in which the watchman is slain, Jack finds clues that implicate Ruth and is compelled to place the girl under arrest. Arnold Davis, who keeps a dive, bails out Ruth with the intention of getting her into his power, and takes her to the dance hall. Barney, one of the Sandford gang, is led by his hatred for the leader and liking for Ruth to turn state's evidence, and his information brings the troopers galloping to Davis' dive. Meanwhile Jack and his patrol are on Sandford's trail, which also leads to Davis' headquarters. The corporal and the troopers arrive in time to rescue Ruth, and in the raid which follows, the outlaws are all captured. Jack takes Ruth back to her cabin where her wounded father dies after confessing his guilt and commending the girl to her lover's care.
