Synopsis
James Lee Stewart, a rookie just returned from the war, vainly tries to sell books for a living until his wealthy aunt dies and leaves him a fortune. A proviso of the will dictates that any servant who is fired will receive five thousand dollars. Despite the servants' insults, he decides to keep them all on. He takes his problems to a lawyer, who is, unknown to Jimmy, the father of Alicia, a girl to whom Jimmy is attracted. The father, after settling Jimmy's servant problem and wanting to see the couple get together, makes his daughter believe that he has been kidnapped. Jimmy and Alicia get into several adventures, after which all is explained and the lovers are united.
