No reviews of this film have been located. Victor Kremer, who was the general manager of the W. H. Clifford Photoplay Co. at the beginning of the Shorty Hamilton series, purchased the rights to the series in 1919. At that time, he attempted to release all other films in the series plus a film called When Arizona Won, which is probably the same film as The Prisoner of War (see listing below for When Arizona Won for plot information on that title). A modern source gives Virginia Harris as Hamilton's co-star in both The Prisoner of War and When Arizona Won.
