Synopsis

David Solomon, a banker, makes his wealthy clients pay exorbitant interest rates on borrowed money so that he can give freely to the poor. His son Maurice, however, is not so charitable, and when he hears some unsavory rumors about Mary, his new wife, he immediately insists on a separation. Mary then gives birth to their baby, and raises the boy in the slums. While doing charity work in the tenement district, David meets Mary and her son, decides to take care of them, and then discovers that they are his daughter-in-law and grandson, after which he brings about a reconciliation between Mary and Maurice.
