Synopsis

Eve Leslie is a young woman whose birth is shrouded in mystery. Throughout the course of her young life she has many experiences which prove to her the merits of her sweetheart, Adam Moore, and also the merits of avoiding the temptations of the seven deadly sins. After learning that her parents are Russian exiles, she is reunited with them. She joins Adam at the fighting front during World War I and, through observing the suffering of the men, she learns the value of life. At the end, Adam and Eve are married and have a young child. Upon reflection on her life, Eve learns that the seventh and greatest sin is selfishness and she resolves to be unselfish for the rest of her life.

Notes

This was the seventh in the McClure series called The Seven Deadly Sins. All others in the series were five reels long. The entire series was re-issued in two-reel versions in 1918. The plots of all of the films were based on stories published in The Ladies World. Information about the plot was kept secret from the press and, in fact, the film was copyrighted under the title The Mystery of the Seventh Sin. Many of the scenes in the film were undoubtedly used in the previous five stories, based on plot descriptions within the copyright records. Many of the actors who had appeared in previous segments also appeared in this film, which was shot at the Edison Studios.
