Synopsis

Young industrial tycoon Philip Borden is smitten by musical-comedy star Miss Frou Frou, who in daily life is Fern Hardy, the foster daughter of a repentant thief who is pressured into robbing Borden's company. When Hardy, Fern's father, tries to make Bates, the leader of his criminal gang, return the stolen money, Bates beats and incarcerates Hardy. These events are briefly witnessed by an inebriated Borden, who has walked into the wrong apartment. Later, Borden, while helping Fern recover a pearl box that has been stolen from her, discovers that she has in her possession money that was stolen from the safe of Borden's company. His inquiries lead him again to Bates' apartment, where a brutal struggle leaves Hardy dying and Bates in the hands of the law. Hardy asks Borden to return Fern, now Borden's sweetheart, to the wealthy family from whom he kidnapped her long ago.
