Synopsis

David Garrick, a city man, arrives in a small town and seduces a naïve country girl, Mary Carroll, with a promise of marriage, saying that he will marry her at three o'clock a few days later. Great marriage preparations are made by the family, who do not know that Garrick has received a letter informing him that his father has died and he has inherited a large sum of money. Garrick leaves to return to the fast life of the city and begins seeing Katherine, his wealthy former sweetheart. Mary, left at the altar, goes insane, and every day at three she waits for him to return. Grace, Mary's sister, vows to avenge the wrong that Garrick has done to Mary. When she sees Garrick's picture in the newspaper, she goes to the city, tricks him into falling hopelessly in love with her, and at the wedding, steps aside for Mary. A startled but happy Garrick marries Mary the next afternoon.
