Synopsis

Orphaned during an Indian raid, Joe and Mary Thompson grow up as Bill Jenkins' foster children. Despite Bill's benevolence, however, Joe becomes a criminal and winds up in jail. Mary, meanwhile, marries a young inventor who soon tires of his new wife and begins an affair with a cabaret singer. To solidify her position as the inventor's mistress, the singer convinces her sweetheart that Joe and Mary are really husband and wife rather than brother and sister. When Mary unexpectedly meets Joe, who has escaped, the reunion turns into violence when Mary's husband walks in on them and tries to capture Joe. After the fighting, Joe convinces the inventor that he really is Mary's brother, after which Mary and her husband are reconciled, while Joe, promising to reform, is allowed to go free.
