Synopsis

On his deathbed, Dave Scott tells his daughter Marie to go to his old mining partner, Dick Clark, for protection. Marie finally finds Dick and establishes a father-daughter relationship with him, after which Dick's younger brother Ted proposes to her. She turns him down, however, because she realizes that she loves Dick, who, although he has fallen in love with Marie, does not want to break his brother's heart. He tells Marie that their age difference forms an obstacle too great to overcome, and then, to insure Ted's happiness, insists that she marry her younger suitor. On the morning of the wedding, however, Ted sees Dick and Marie together, and can tell by their actions that they love each other. As a result, Ted leaves town, but before he goes, he writes a note to Dick and Marie urging them to get married, advice which they quickly follow.
