Synopsis

Sick of life in the city after his fiancée deserts him, Merrill Day goes to the country for a rest with his sister and niece. There he meets Joan, who has lived in the hills for her whole life, and they quickly begin a romance. Grekko, however, a hunchback who has loved Joan for years, convinces her that Merrill's sister is really Merrill's wife. Joan and Grekko then plan to kill Merrill, but just before the murder is to take place, and right after Joan has accused her sweetheart of deceiving her, he explains everything. Grekko then fires his gun, but Joan jumps in front of Merrill, and Grekko, thinking he has killed the woman he loves, runs away. Joan's wound is merely superficial, however, and after she recovers, she and Merrill are married.
