Synopsis
Before her death, Nancy writes to her wealthy father, John Martingale, begging forgiveness for eloping with the brutal Jake Levine. Then, her infant daughter, also named Nancy, is taken in by Mrs. Warner, while Jake becomes a criminal. Years later, after trying unsuccessfully to locate his granddaughter, John decides to adopt a young woman to whom he can leave his fortune. Hearing of the old man's desire for an heir, Jake schemes to supply one in order to get his own hands on the money. As a result, without knowing that she is his daughter, he kidnaps Nancy, and tries to force her to go to John. Nancy escapes, however, and finally finds refuge with John, who soon realizes that she is his granddaughter because of her close resemblance to his daughter. Then, after finding her grandfather, Nancy gets a husband, too, as she marries Mrs. Warner's son Leslie.
