Synopsis

For revenge against the townspeople who lynched his brother, Jean Belleau organizes a small gang and goes on a criminal rampage. Senator Thurston, a political boss, makes endless speeches against Jean, and then calls on Sheriff Allan Dwight to arrest him. Allan, who looks remarkably like Jean, insists that the criminal is no worse that the local politicians who loot the town treasury, and as a result, the citizens grow suspicious of their sheriff. Finally, they have him arrested, and citing the strong resemblance, they claim that Allan himself is Jean. Not wanting to see an innocent man punished, Jean frees Allan by giving himself up, but before he can be brought to trial, one of the gang members, fearful of being named in court, kills him.
