Synopsis
Embittered because he has been cheated out of his royalties by the producer of his play, John Carlton burns his unpublished novel and goes out West to be a bandit. In the wilderness, he finds a young orphan, Wanda Holmes, whom he raises as his own daughter. Years later, however, he loses her to Dick Arliss, an Easterner who, while on a hunting trip, falls in love with Wanda and then takes her home to marry her. Soon afterward, John reads in the newspaper that he has been sought in the East for years. He learns that his landlady recovered his novel before it burned, and succeeded in publishing it. The book was an instant success, thus a fortune in royalties awaits John, who goes to New York to claim his money. When he arrives, he is reunited with Wanda, and soon moves into a house with her, her husband and her baby.
