Synopsis

Stenographer Lillian Hill, who is in love with penniless playwright Henry Parker, marries her older, wealthy boss, Wilbur Mason, in order to pay for her mother's operation. Later, Henry becomes a success and falls in love with Lillian's step-daughter Anne. When he comes to the Parker home to visit Anne, Wilbur thinks that he and Lillian have renewed their romance and throws him out of the house. Fed up with her marriage and with her husband's jealousy, Lillian leaves Wilbur and then, just after forgiving him, dies in her mother's home. Wilbur suffers a stroke at the sight of his dead wife, but he has enough strength left to summon Henry and consent to his marrying Anne.
