Synopsis

Jean MacGregor's nosy neighbor, Miss McGrim, causes a scandal by lying about Jean's relationship with Winston, a young Englishman. The ugly gossip forces Jean to leave her tyrannical father Donald and flee to America, to stay with her uncle Robert, who manages a lumber camp in Florida. In order to earn passage to Florida, Jean joins a show troupe as a dancer and pipe player, touring the country fairs. Meanwhile, back at home, Miss McGrim marries Donald which further tarnishes Jean's relationship with her father. When Jean arrives in Florida, Robert is very cold to her, but she wins him over when she helps him catch thieves who have been preying upon the camp. She is reunited with Winston when he comes to inspect a lumber camp that his father owns. The couple returns to England to be married, and she reconciles with her father, who is no longer married.
