Synopsis
While waiting on a rooftop for an acquaintance, Henry Pike saves a French woman from the advances of a stranger. A starlight conversation ensues, interrupted only by a drenching rainstorm. Before parting, the French woman gives Henry her umbrella and her husband's calling card. To explain his wet condition to his wife, Henry invents a wild story involving the French woman's husband. Suspicious, Mrs. Pike writes to the French man requesting a visit shortly before his wife shows up to collect her umbrella. Introducing her as the new maid, Henry promptly sends the French woman home and later passes off a friend as her husband, before learning that the real French man is on his way. After locking the visitor in the bathroom, Henry's plot is complicated further by the reappearance of the French wife. The friend recognizes the wife and explains the situation to Mrs. Pike before more mischief is done.
