Synopsis

While traveling to Buffalo with her uncle Henry and his family, Frenchwoman Lili Breval is accidentally left behind at a rural train station. Speaking no English, Lili struggles to communicate her problem to the townspeople until Jim Pemberton, newly fired from his job at a car garage, rescues her with his knowledge of French. A penniless Jim, who has been forced by his father, an auto manufacturer and business rival of Henry Breval, to support himself after his expulsion from college, eagerly takes a job as a driver in a car race, hoping to win enough money to send pretty Lili on to Buffalo. Ironically, his car is a Breval entry, but in spite of the familial competition, Jim battles two would-be saboteurs to cross the finish line first. After delivering Lili to Buffalo, Jim gains office employment from a grateful Henry Breval, which satisfies Mr. Pemberton and clears the road to romance with the little mademoiselle.
