Synopsis

Dr. John Wright, a rising young physician, is married to a woman unhappy with their financial condition. Because of her desire for "nice" things, Wright is forced by extenuating circumstances into endorsing a bogus cure for tuberculosis and working at the Promoter's sanitarium. Wright wants to renounce the cure, but before he can do so the police raid the sanitarium and he and the Promoter must flee in a boat. An explosion during the pursuit results in the Promoter's death and Wright is convicted of manslaughter. During this time Wright's daughter dies as a result of taking the cure after contracting tuberculosis. Years later Wright is released from prison and sent to a sanitarium because he also has the disease. Eventually Wright is cured and is reunited with his now repentent wife.
