Synopsis

Sylvia Gray leaves her impoverished playwright husband Henry for the wealthy Lennox, taking her daughter Silvery with her. Margy, an old servant, takes the child away and rears her in another city. Meanwhile, Sylvia goes partially insane and kills Lennox after he deserts her. The now grown Silvery, an artist's model, falls in love with her employer, Vanveldt, but becomes fascinated with Dr. Frankenstein, a hypnotist whose wife Vivette is very jealous. Sylvia then returns to care for her husband who is blind and without memory. When his memory returns, he recalls where he had hidden money received for one of his plays. Frankenstein forces Silvery, under hypnosis, to rob her father but just as she is about to stab him, Vivette arrives and kills Frankenstein. Silvery and Vanveldt become engaged and Gray and Sylvia look forward to the future.
