Synopsis
The Allied German and Austro-Hungarian armies, in their campaign in the Carpathians, drive through Galicia to recapture the stronghold of Przemysl from the invading Russian army. Scenes and subjects depicted include, among others, the mobilization and transport of troops after the declaration of war; generals planning; camplife on the eve of battle; howitzers operating; the Red Cross assuring that conditions are sanitary; trench warfare; aviators locating enemy batteries; a cavalry charge; the destruction of bridges by the Russians in their retreat; and the rebuilding of the bridges by the German and Austro-Hungarian engineering corps.

The title of this film, as shown in ads, was The Battle and Fall of Przemysl, or Smashing the Armies of the Czar. The film was also reviewed under the title The Battle of Przemysl, and referred to as The Fall of Przemysl in a news item. One review stated that Edward Lyell Fox assembled the film. Fox also wrote a lecture to be read while the film was screened. This was the first film of the American Correspondent Film Co. Cameraman Dawson traveled with the German and Austro-Hungarian troops during their Galicia campaign.
