Film Details
Synopsis
Harry Searelle and Raymond Webster vie for the hand of a Southern belle named Grace Merridew, and when she chooses the former, Raymond plots his revenge. The Civil War breaks out, and Harry finds himself serving under Col. Webster, who, with the aid of his confidante, Gustave Le Roy, forges a letter informing Harry that Grace is dying. Caught leaving the fort, Harry is accused of desertion and shot just as Union troops take the post. Wounded and suffering from amnesia, Harry becomes a tramp after the war. Eventually, he wanders back home, arriving just as Raymond, determined to acquire the Merridew estate, murders Grace's father. Harry and Le Roy are sentenced for the crime, but they soon escape, stowing away on a steamer which Le Roy accidentally sets afire. Moved by Harry's bravery in saving both their lives, Le Roy exposes Raymond's treachery, and Harry, his memory restored, is reunited with Grace.
