Synopsis
Evelyn Cartwright becomes dangerously ill from poisoned liquor, and her brother Robert determines to put a stop to the local traffic in bootleg booze. He forces Jimmy Adler, who bought the bad bottle at a small restaurant, to put a finger on the man from whom he bought it. Robert takes the man to the Cartwright house at the point of a gun and soon discovers the man's source: the landlady at the Rex apartments. Robert rents a room there and discovers the warehouse where the stuff is made and bottled. Robert then captures one of the bootleggers, a beautiful woman named Leona, who has been forced into a life of crime by her husband, Lee Haynes. Robert takes Leona to his home and confronts her with his desperately ill sister. Leona repents of her life of crime and offers to help Robert bring the bootleggers to justice. The man held prisoner in the Cartwright home escapes and alerts Haynes. Robert and Leona are captured and tied up; but Leona with a knee motion sends a message by wireless, and the gang is captured by the police. Haynes is killed by the harbor police, and Evelyn soon recovers enough to see Leona and Robert married.
