Synopsis

A woman becomes a secretary to a lawyer so that she can obtain her brother's forged checks and signed confession, which the lawyer is holding against him. When the lawyer is discovered murdered, a detective is assigned to the case who had previously fallen in love with the secretary, although she did not reciprocate. On the same night that the detective discovers the secretary is using a pseudonym, she steals the forged checks from her office safe, and barely escapes from the detective. The secretary then steals the signed confession from the late lawyer's apartment, but is arrested by the detective. Later, the detective proves that the lawyer was murdered by his associate because the lawyer was the only person who knew that he had murdered his wife. The associate used window cleaners' apparatus to get into the office without notice. With the real criminal brought to justice, the secretary responds to the detective's attentions.
