The only information located concerning this film is a listing in NYSA records for 1934, which gives a length of 4,506 feet after eliminations had been made by the New York State censors. (A film of that length runs approximately 50 minutes.) According to a booklet about documentary filmmaker Julien Bryan published in the late 1930s, after travelogue producer Burton Holmes saw a presentation of Bryan's films on Russia, Holmes invited him to tour with him in the spring of 1933, and they produced a joint program entitled Russia As It WAS-Russia As It IS Today. Russia As It Is May have been part of the joint Bryan-Holmes program.
