Synopsis

After saving pretty "Firey" Parker, the daughter of a Montana sheepman, from her runaway horses, cowboy Wallace Gordon rescues her little brother Bobbie from the vicious taunts of a group of cowhands. Impressed by Wally's bravery, Mr. Parker, who fears the threats of the greedy cattlemen, makes him the foreman of his sheep ranch. At the same time, saloon owner Jeff Thompson offers "Cash" Horton, a notorious gunman, money to run the Parkers off their government-leased grazing land. Horton and his men show up at the Parkers and, claiming to be government inspectors, demand to see their stock. Wise to Horton's scheme, however, Wally refuses the order and outdraws him. Forced off the Parkers' property, Horton confronts Mr. Parker in Thompson's saloon and then shoots and kills him. Although Wally accuses Horton of murdering Mr. Parker in "cold blood," Horton claims he acted in self-defense and starts a brawl in the saloon. During the fight, Horton stabs a man, then plants his knife on Wally, who is arrested for the crime. While in jail, Wally asks Bobbie to spy on Horton and Thompson at the saloon. A week later, Bobbie overhears Thompson and the bartender discussing Horton's frame-up of Wally and his plans to raid the Parkers' ranch that day. Bobbie relays the information to Wally, who, with the cooperation of the sheriff, escapes from jail. After a fierce chase and fight, Wally delivers Horton to the sheriff and reveals to Firey and Bobbie that he is actually a special inspector who had been sent by the government to protect the sheepmen's interests. As Firey embraces him, however, Wally announces that he is quitting his job to become a Montana sheepman.
