Notes

This all-black film is probably based on a theatrical production staged by The Lafayette Players, a Harlem company. A contemporary newspaper article describes the film as a feature, but its exact length has not been determined. Other filmed versions of the play include a 1919 Garson Production, directed by Albert Parker and starring Clara Kimball Young and Gareth Hughes (see AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1911-20) and a 1927 film entitled The Love of Sunya, also directed by Parker, starring Gloria Swanson and produced by her own company (see AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1921-30).
