Synopsis
In Mexico, at a picnic where children play and gypsies entertain, Juan Belgrano attempts to speak alone with the beautiful Camila Castro, with whom he is in love, but their conversation is interrupted by Camila's bossy aunt, who reminds Camila that she is engaged to Miguel Farley. Desperate to talk to Camila privately, Juan asks his friend José Gomez to divert the vain and gullible Mrs. Castro's attention from her niece by flirting with her and flattering her. After much pleading, Mrs. Castro convinces José, and Juan is able to take Camila away from the crowd, where he declares his love and begs her not to marry Farley. Camila replies that she is in love with Juan, but must marry Farley, who has threatened to reveal a dark secret about her father's past if she refuses. When Farley arrvies at the picnic, he roughs up Juan. Later, Camila has her palm read by the gypsy Carmen, who warns her of dire consequences if she marries Farley. That evening, Camila's family realizes that she has disappeared and, as they saw Farley leaving the picnic alone, they surmise that she has been kidnapped by the gypsies. Juan learns of Camila's disappearance and tracks down the gypsies' wagons, but they deny having Camila and a search turns up no trace of her. As Juan is leaving the camp, Carmen approaches him and tells him that Farley paid her father, the leader of the gypsies, to kidnap Camila and deliver her to him at a cabin in the remote Lost Canyon. At the cabin, Farley, furious over Camila's love for Juan, threatens to kill both Juan and her father if she refuses to cross the border and go with him to Chicago. Juan arrives at the cabin just in time to save Camila, and he bests Farley in a fight, although Camila accidently knocks him out in the confusion. When Juan comes to, Camila is at his side and a gleeful José is congratulating him on his newly acquired wealth. A confused Juan then learns that Farley was a wanted man and that there was a $10,000 reward for his capture. Juan then declares that his true reward will be Camila, and the couple embrace.
