Synopsis
Luis Le Bay, a French Canadian trapper, is in love with Nedra, the daughter of a mine owner, but is accused of robbing several of the mine's gold shipments and flees. While being chased by a Mounted Police patrol, Luis saves the life of a sergeant and rescues Nedra and her father from a snow avalanche. At his trial, Luis is found innocent after testimony from the local priest resolves the mystery of the stolen gold.

M-G-M made four foreign-language versions of Men of the North, a 1930 film that starred Gilbert Roland and was directed by Hal Roach. Roach also directed the simultaneously shot Spanish, Italian, French and German versions. While this Spanish version and the Italian version (Monsieur la Volpe) were approved for exhibition in New York State in 1931, no information regarding U.S. showings of the French and German versions has been located. The onscreen credits were taken from a studio cutting continuity. While the continuities give the titles of the Italian and German versions as Monsieur La Volpe and Monsieur Le Fox respectively, Italian and German sources list the release titles as Luigi La volpe and Das Land Ohne Gesetz. Monsieur Le Fox was also the title of the French version. Barbara Leonard, the female star of the English-language version with Gilbert Roland, also apppeared in the French, German and Italian versions opposite André Luguet, John Reinhardt and Frank Corsaro respectively. The Spanish version was shown in San Juan, Puerto Rico under the title El zorro. Actress Cora Montes was cast in the Spanish version, but her role was elimated before the film's release.
