Synopsis

Ali, an Arab, and Irving, an Israeli, are partners in a men's clothing store in Tel Aviv. They tell a customer the story of how they once were bitter enemies: In 1970, Irving, a general in the Israeli Army, tries to provoke an Arab attack that will give his army an excuse to break the cease-fire. He sends three spies behind Arab lines and gives each woman one third of a message about a bogus supply shipment. Toblosky is disguised as a jeep-driving farm girl, Shwartz as a harem girl, and Kaplan as a camel boy. Everything goes according to Irving's plan; the women are captured and imprisoned in the Arab leader's tent. The elder Arab soldiers recommend torturing the three women into disclosing their secret mission, but Ali, the American-educated son of the Arab leader, suggests using gentle persuasion on the prisoners. When he is overruled by the elders, Ali dresses up as Rudolph Valentino, bursts into the tent, and abducts the women to "safety." Taking them to an elegant hotel, Ali wines, dines, and seduces them, and they reveal their part in Irving's plan. The women are permitted to return home; a stalemate develops between the warring parties, and the cease-fire is restored . In 1982, as evidence of their continuing friendship, Irving has married Shwartz, and Ali is courting both Toblosky and Kaplan!
