Synopsis

The Futori family lives a primitive existence on Kuragejima, an island in the Pacific Ocean. The patriarch of the family, who believes that incest is permissible for the ruling family of the island, is both the father and grandfather to his late daughter's son; the son also is carrying on an incestuous relationship with one of his sisters; and another of his sisters is a retarded woman with nyphomaniac tendencies. When an engineer arrives on the island to map plans for a sugar refinery, he is seduced by the retarded sister and soon forgets his civilized past. In the end, the brother and sister are condemned for their incestuous love, and the brother is forced to dig a pit that is large enough to bury a huge stone that was washed ashore by a tidal wave.
