Synopsis

Ilene Fisher's promiscuity has driven her husband to a state of near-alcoholism. Shortly after moving into a quiet suburban neighborhood, they attend a swimming pool party at the home of wealthy Ron Elston. Ignoring the presence of the other guests and Mrs. Elston, Ilene succumbs to the advances of Ron and makes love to him. In the weeks that follow, the Fishers and the Elstons join with a third couple in drunken parties that eventually lead to their playing a form of roulette in which the prize is someone else's marital partner. Outraged by everyone's immorality, including his own, Ilene's husband demands that they move out of the area; but Ilene, confident that Ron will divorce his wife and marry her, refuses. Ron, however, makes it clear that his only interest in Ilene is physical and that he has no intention of breaking up his family. Ilene takes an overdose of sleeping pills but is saved from death by her husband and daughter. As the Fishers resolve to save their marriage, Ron and their other neighbors look for new participants in their game of suburban roulette.
