Synopsis
Adulterers Barbara and Bruce use a furnished penthouse in an unfinished apartment building for their trysts. A real estate agent with a wife and two children, Bruce has prolonged his affair with Barbara by assuring her that he is only waiting for the right moment to divorce his wife. Early one morning Barbara answers the door to the apartment and is confronted by a man who claims he has come to read the gas meter. After introducing himself as Tom, the stranger brings in his assistant, Dick. Within a few moments, Tom has produced a switchblade, Bruce has been bound with satin ribbons in a chair, and Barbara has been pushed onto a couch and forced to drink tumblers of scotch. The two intruders, in a "party" mood, persuade Barbara to smoke marijuana, dance a striptease to seductive music, and join them one at a time in the bedroom. Through it all, the helpless Bruce is taunted and ridiculed at knife point. Eventually the two men leave abruptly and Barbara unties Bruce. A few minutes later the doorbell rings again, and a bizarre-looking woman who calls herself Harry explains that she is the parole officer for the two intruders and that they wish to apologize for their bad manners. To Barbara's disgust, Bruce not only agrees but also promises not to notify the police. Immediately upon re-entering the apartment, Tom and Dick, goaded on by the sadistic Harry, tie up the couple and perform a weird dance around them. Then they leave. Bruce and Barbara free themselves, leave the building, and go off in separate directions.
