Synopsis
In Venice, a fiendish frogman emerges occasionally from the depths of one of the canals to drag a passing girl underwater to the crypt of a submerged monastery. There the fiend embalms the bodies of his victims to preserve their beauty. Three beautiful girls disappear, but police are unwilling to accept the hypothesis of a young journalist that foul play was involved. The journalist sets out to solve the mystery, offering his services as guide to a group of college tourists chaperoned by a teacher and accompanied by an archeologist. The archeologist disappears while investigating a sunken crypt beneath the group's hotel, and his body is found on the stage of a nightclub during a magic act. The chaperon, with whom the journalist has fallen in love, falls into the fiend's hands when she finds a secret passage leading to the hotel basement. The newspaperman, meanwhile, dons diving equipment and penetrates the hidden crypt; there he discovers and overpowers the madman.
