Synopsis
The MacGregors are ranchers of Scottish descent living near the Mexican border in 19th-century Texas. One day seven of the sons go into town to sell a herd of horses and clash with a crooked horsedealer, Crawford, who offers them a paltry sum for the animals. When the seven men start a brawl, the sheriff takes them to jail. Upon breaking out, the MacGregors discover that their horses have been stolen and that Crawford and the sheriff are in league with bandit chief Santillana. To break the power of the bandits, the oldest MacGregor son, Gregor, teams up with Santillana, wins his confidence, and passes on information about the gang's plans to the MacGregors; but after Santillana's men have been thwarted in several robbery attempts, the bandit chief suspects the deception and attacks the MacGregors, capturing all but Gregor. Gregor then steals into the enemy camp to free his brothers. In the gunfight that ensues, the brothers' ammunition is nearly exhausted when they hear the sound of approaching bagpipes. With the arrival of the older MacGregors, the bandits are routed or killed, and Santillana himself is slain by his discarded mistress, Perla. Once peace is restored, Gregor is betrothed to his sweetheart, Rosita, and the family celebrates the occasion.
