Synopsis

Ten women escape from a reformatory in Greece and hide on an island they believe to be deserted; but seven men, led by ex-Nazi Johann and his son Peter, are searching for a treasure buried on the island. The men find the fugitive women and force them to do the digging for the treasure. The women, believing that they will be murdered when the treasure is found, attempt to kill the men with dynamite they have stolen from Johann's boat. Sarah, a Jew, cannot tolerate further violence, and she throws the dynamite into the sea, where it explodes harmlessly. The Germans then beat and rape the women at Johann's orders. The women force Sarah to lure Peter into a trap so that he may be used as a hostage. Peter is captured, but his companions release him; he then demands that he personally be granted the privilege of disposing of Sarah. He takes her to the other side of the island, but, instead of killing her, he sets her free to swim to the mainland. One of the women, Fanny, subsequently dies of a beating administered by Johann's men, and her best friend digs a grave for her. In the process of digging the grave, she finds the treasure but buries Fanny with it. Sarah then returns with the police, and Johann is shot while trying to resist arrest.
