Synopsis

THE FIRST NIGHT: On the first day of their honeymoon in Naples, a young Sicilian couple are invited to a party aboard a yacht. Their host, a jaded aristocrat, offers to pay a million lire if the bride will spend the night with him, whereupon the husband, slightly drunk and more than slightly addled by the luxurious surroundings, persuades the wife to accept. The next morning, the couple move into an expensive hotel. But when they check out, they discover the check is no good and the husband must face going to jail unless he can explain how he earned the one million lire. ONE MOMENT IS ENOUGH: Young Giancarlo proudly boasts of his wife Marina's absolute fidelity. Secretly, however, she has been unfaithful to him countless times, despite his almost constant surveillance. When he does learn the truth, Giancarlo drags his wife into the ocean and holds her head under water until he is convinced she is dead. He then gives himself up to the police and returns with them to the scene of the crime, only to find Marina making passionate love to a fisherman who had revived her with artificial respiration. THE LAST CARD: Antonio and Elsa are happily married but dead broke because Antonio has refused to work since he gave up his career as a professional soccer player. Elsa tries to solve their financial problems by arranging for her husband to become a gigolo to American tourists, and Antonio makes an attempt to go through with the scheme. But the experience is such a nightmare that he races back to Elsa and declares that he has decided to go to work. SATURDAY, JULY 18: Each year Diana spends a month on the island of Capri even though her husband Mario can join her for only the last two weeks. On one such occasion, Mario spends the first day of his vacation boasting of his wife's beauty and fidelity. But when they are making love that night in their loudly creaking hotel bed, an indignant voice from the next room bellows: "Do we have to listen to this creaking every night?"
