Synopsis

Casablan, a quick-tempered young Moroccan, emigrates to Israel in 1948 to fight in the war of independence, but his lack of education and training makes him an outcast in post-war society. After he is arrested by police inspector Abramov and falsely accused of murdering a petty criminal, Casablan is defended by Yosh, his former army commander; in the process, Yosh falls in love with Rachel, Casablan's girl friend. Gina, a prostitute who loves Casablan, helps secure his acquittal by providing an alibi. Later, Casablan is jailed once again for fighting as Yosh and Rachel go away together.
